Product: 2011 Super Rugby Competition Trophy and Conference Trophies
To commemorate the inaugural Super Rugby championship, SANZAR (South Africa, New Zealand and Australia Rugby) were after an iconic trophy designed to impress. Working with the design produced at Blue Sky Design the project consisted of 15 conference trophies and a number of replicas, but the highlight was the imposing Championship Trophy in polished Stainless Steel, coming in at a massive 18kg.
In concept, it needed to be impressive and grand, but also a perpetual design. It had to not only symbolise the fanatical emotion of the Super Rugby Union but also the union of the three Rugby-loving nations.
In practice, it needed to have substantial weight and hold enough champagne for a proper celebration.
