Laser and waterjet cutting is a process that takes your 2D line drawing (in dwg, dxf, eps or pdf format) and cuts the profile into materials such as acrylic, Aluminium or steel of various thicknesses.
When designing for laser or waterjet cutting keep in mind that cost is highly dependent on the number of perforations in the material, as well as on the distance the laser or waterjet has to travel, the quantity of parts to be ordered and the thickness of the material being cut. Laser cutting results in a high level edge finish, waterjet cutting has various levels of edge finish.
